2008 Fisheries Closed Season

The public is reminded of the enforcement of the following 2008 Fishery Closed Seasons:

i)         Lobsters - 31st July until 31st October;

ii)       Whelks - 15th August until 31st October;

iii)     Conch - 15th August until 31st October;

iv)     Turtles - 1st April until 30th November.

During this time no person shall catch, sell, offer for sale or buy lobster, conch, whelk or turtle in the VI. Any person found doing so will be liable for prosecution.  This conservation measure helps to ensure the health and successful reproduction of these important marine commercial species.
