Pesticides Awareness Week

The Department of Agriculture in conjunction with the Coordinating Group of Pesticides Control Board of the Caribbean, (CGPC) commemorates Pesticides Awareness Week to educate the community about that effects of using pesticides and more importantly about Integrated Pest Management (IPM) which encourages producers to more interactively care for plants - thus reducing the use of pesticides.  Pesticide Week is scheduled for 27th September - 3rd October, 2015.

World Food Day

World Food Day is a day commemorated by the Food & Agricultural Organization (FAO) and was established by FAO's Member Countries at the Organization's Twentieth General Conference in November 1979. The date chosen, 16 October, is the anniversary of FAO. The BVI celebrates World Food Day as a step towards promoting all aspects of agriculture - the producers, the production and the produce.

Farmers' Week 2015

Farmers' Week is an annual celebration of everything that is agriculture - the producers, the culture, the livestock, the crops and the processors who make use of agricultural products and byproducts. Farmers' Week features exhibitions on Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke where agricultural produce, livestock, handicrafts, preserves and baked goods are set on display. Farmer's Week is scheduled for Friday, January 30, through Friday, February 6, 2015.
