Role Summary
The successful applicant will provide assistance within the department to ensure all survey related matters are dealt with professionally and in a timely manner.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the department and the supervision of assigned staff.
- Assists in undertaking the functions of the Survey Department in order to maintain the efficient delivery of services.
- Establishes survey standards through setting up procedures for collection and processing of survey raw data accurately.
- Advises the Cadastral Information Manager on matters pertaining to the presentation of final survey plans in a timely manner.
- Assists in the training and mentoring of trainees to ensure a high standard of skill and knowledge is gained.
- Advises the Chief Surveyor on technical matters pertaining to horizontal and vertical control efficiently.
- Validates the results of surveys prior to final processing by the Data Processing and Records Unit in a timely manner.
- Maintains records relevant to the Survey Department and also keeps filing up-to-date so that complete records are available for reference.
- Keeps abreast of developments in the field of quality improvement and quality assurance.
- Performs any other related duties as required by Supervisor or any other senior officer in order to contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying
- Four (4) years supervisory experience in land and engineering surveying
- Sound knowledge of Government structure, policies and procedures
- Sound knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures
- Sound knowledge of surveying standards techniques and procedures
- Sound knowledge of the relevant computerized surveying applications and surveying equipment
- Sound organisational and interpersonal skills
- Good knowledge of the use of standard office equipment and relevant software applications
- Sound oral and written communication skills
- Sound leadership and management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
