Post Office

The Post Office provides a number of services to the general public. The staff is available to assist with any or all of these services: Letters and Parcels Two levels of service are available to communicate internationally through the post. Airmail, which is priority service and is dispatched daily to the Governments major partners (the United States and the United Kingdom), and surface mail which is an economic service and is dispatched less frequently. The Post Office provides service to more than 189 countries through the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Network. Stamps Stamps are sold at all Post Office Counters. Money Orders Money Orders are sold at the General Post Office and branch Post Offices. Currently, this service operates with the following countries: Anguilla, Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, St. Lucia, Barbados, Montserrat, St. Vincent, Trinidad & Tobago, and the US and US Territories. Money Orders are paid by the Post Offices of these countries. Details can be obtained from any Stamp Counter. Postal Orders Postal Orders can be purchased in Pounds Sterling at the General Post Office. Payments for Postal Orders and Money Orders Overseas Postal Money Orders and Postal Orders are paid at the General Post Office and at all Branch Post Offices. Payments are by bilateral agreements. Other Services: Philately New stamp issues and other philatelic items such as First Day Covers, Souvenir Sheets, etc., are sold at the Philatelic Bureau Counter in the Post Office. Standing Order Service is available whereby customers can make deposits into an account and receive new issues as they are released. Standing Orders for Stamp issues are dispatched within one month after the release date. Postage Meters Businesses which generate a larger volume of mail can affix the postage at their convenience by using a postage meter. The machine can be purchased from several private suppliers in the Territory. More information can be obtained from the Post Office. International Reply Coupons International Reply Coupons are exchanged from other postal administrations for postage stamps at any Post Office in the Territory. Currently, coupons are not available for sale. Registered Mail For customers requiring added security, the Post Office provides registered services at all Post Offices to any destination. If a customer has a concern regarding an ordinary or registered mail item or parcel, they may ask to initiate an international inquiry. This service is provided free of charge and the Post Office is committed to ensuring a speedy resolution. New services include Money Orders for Anegada. Services to be implemented in 2002 include a stamp vending machine at the General Post Office, letter boxes on Jost Van Dyke, and a new Post Office in Virgin Gorda. Forwarding Mail Customers leaving the Territory may request mail forwarding by leaving a forwarding address with the General Post Office. Feedback, suggestions and complaints can be directed to the General Post Office.
