Apprenticeship Programme Still Accepting Job Applications

The Ministry of Education and Culture is inviting young persons to apply for jobs through its Apprenticeship Programme.

The Apprenticeship Programme is opened to unemployed young persons between ages 18 to 29 who have registered at the Youth Employment Services. To register, persons are asked to visit the Youth Employment Services office adjacent the old Post Office building in Road Town or telephone the programme’s coordinator, Mr. Albert Wheatley at 494-0045 or 541-1981.

Seminar To Assist With Retirement Planning

The Social Development Department is inviting persons as young as 30 years old to begin planning for retirement by attending a seminar entitled “Mapping Your Retirement.” The seminar will be held on Thursday April 16, at 5:30 p.m. in the Red Cross Conference Room.

Persons attending the seminar will learn how to manage their money and the 3+1 foundational building blocks of the retirement plan. All interested persons are invited to attend.

Urgent: Road Closure From Fat Hog’s Bay To Long Swamp

The Ministry of Communications and Works is informing the public that the road in East End from Fat Hog’s Bay in the vicinity of the Youth Empowerment Programme (Y.E.P) centre to the Police Station in Long Swamp is currently closed to the public. 

The road will reopen at 4:30 p.m. and closed 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. the following day (Thursday, April 16).

Motorists are asked to take alternative routes to access areas.

The Ministry apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused during this time.

All Invited To “Wear Green And Go Green” On Earth Day

The Conservation and Fisheries Department is inviting all persons to ‘Wear Green and Go Green” in territorial solidarity for Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22.

In addition, the Department is inviting all churches, organizations, civic groups and/or interested individuals to join in a coastal clean-up effort along the Sir Francis Drive in the Slaney area on April 22 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Persons are also encouraged to participate in an educational Eco-walk and environmental tour scheduled for Saturday, April 25.
