Males across the Territory were encouraged to seek regular medical advice especially during the COVID-19 pandemic as the Territory observes Men’s Health Week this week.
The Office of Gender Affairs spearheaded activities in an effort of heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and the early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.
Gender Affairs Coordinator, Ms. Tara Sue Morgan stated that the week’s activities were held under the theme, ‘Take Action on COVID-19’ and aimed at encouraging males to seek regular medical advice especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ms. Sue Morgan said, “The COVID-19 pandemic provides an opportunity to encourage men to pay attention to their risk surrounding the disease and what measures they can do to reduce that risk.”
The campaign gave health care providers, policy makers and the media an opportunity to begin the conversation on the effects of COVID-19 on men and assisting them to stay up to date with the measures that are a part of the ‘New Regular’.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Dr. Dominick Frazer also made a presentation on ‘Men taking action on COVIC-19’ during an Interview as part of the week’s activities.
