As you are aware, the start of this week has been quite interesting and challenging for our financial services sector, an industry that we have long been fighting hard to defend due to report raises by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) of the Panama Paper, particularly regarding alleged abuse or misuse of BVI structures.

The Government of the British Virgin Islands is very concerned by the issues that the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) report raises, particularly regarding alleged abuse or misuse of BVI structures. 

It gives me a very great pleasure to be able to make some very brief introductory remarks for our ceremony today.

Good afternoon.
The 90th birthday celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is indeed an important occasion for the Territory as it marks an important milestone in her life as the sovereign. 

Wherever we live in the Commonwealth, we can always benefit from being open to the ideas and encouragement of those around us. Each of us can also make a positive difference in the lives of others by being willing to contribute and offer support.

Let us now stand to pledge ourselves afresh to uphold and serve the values and fellowship of the Commonwealth.

I am Myron V. Walwyn, Minister for Education and Culture and it is with pleasure that I take this opportunity to bring you brief remarks to open this year’s Education Week activities as we celebrate the opportunities in education with the theme, “Instructing Every Child through Inclusive Education”.  This year we have also included a subtheme, which reminds us - “Education Includes Me.” 

The occasion for which we have gathered here today, may not be glamorous or even of immediate interest to many, but it is certainly one that can seriously and negatively impact the safety of many and the Territory at large
