The Department of Agriculture is advising importers of live birds to complete the necessary animal import permit forms at the department. This is important in helping to stop the spread of the H5N1 Avian Flu or Bird Flu, and to safeguard the Territory.

The Department of Agriculture is inviting members of the public to enter the Farmers’ Week 2016 theme competition. Entries should be inspired by and incorporate the following topics: sustainable development, increased agricultural production and climate change. The theme should not exceed twelve (12) words and the competition is open to all persons.

The Department of Agriculture wishes to inform the public that the annual Farmers Week Prize Giving Ceremony and Exhibition on Anegada scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, is cancelled.
On behalf of the Department of Agriculture, I wish to express our sincerest apologies to farmers, stakeholders, members of the Anegada community, and the wider Virgin Islands community for the inconvenience caused in postponing this morning’s annual Farmers’ Week Prize Giving Ceremony and Exhibition.
The postponement was as a result of technical difficulties experienced by the ferry.
We would like to inform the public that the ceremony and exhibition are now scheduled for Wednesday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m.
