The BVI National Commission for UNESCO will be hosting a week of activities in March in observance of World Poetry Day.

The public is reminded that Monday, March 1 is the 26^th annual celebration to pay homage to the Territory’s first Chief Minister, the late Honourable H. Lavity Stoutt.

The Department of Culture will be hosting a five part poetry masterclass Writing Workshop from March 13.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie and Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley attended the 13^th Annual African Remembrance ceremony observed on Sunday, February 7. 

On January 26, Local Author Lucinda Gordon successfully launched her first book, 

Local author, Lucinda Gordon in collaboration with the Department of Culture will be launching the book, “My Shattered Life” on Tuesday, January 26, at the Ralph T. O’Neal Administration Complex Breezeway at 5:00 p.m.

Local author, Lucinda Gordon said that her latest book is about her life-changing ordeal with domestic violence and her courage and journey to recovery.

Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration, Honourable Vincent Wheatley has said that the upcoming reclamation works in the Pockwood Pond area will not affect the Dungeon historical ruins site.

Dr. Richard Georges is the Literary and Cultural Ambassador responsible for promoting the understanding of and appreciation for Virgin Islands history and cultural heritage through poetry.

The public is invited to the Virtual Ceremony for the Territory’s first ever Poet Laureate, Dr. Richard Georges on Friday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m.
