Just about seven weeks ago, the House of Assembly passed the Immigration and Passports (Amendment) Act 2019, clearing the way for the commencement of the first phase of government’s programme to reform the laws, policies and systems that regulate immigration and labour in the Virgin Islands.

The public is notified that the offices of the Labour Department on Tortola and Virgin Gorda will be closed temporarily on Friday, July 5 to facilitate a ceremony to rename the department.
The Labour Department will be renamed to the Department of Labour and Workforce Development as the Government of the Virgin Islands moves to improve labour relations and develop the Territory’s workforce.
