All work permit applicants who previously uploaded documents through the Online Work Permit System, are asked to submit outstanding documentation to the Department of Labour and Workforce Development as soon as possible to complete the application process.

Employers, employees, legal practitioners and the public are notified that the Labour Arbitration Tribunal’s Hilary Term ends on Thursday, April 14. 

Mrs. Michelle A. Venzen McLean has been appointed Labour Commissioner in the Department of Labour and Workforce Development effective January 11.

An Online Work Permit Processing Task Force is now in place to assist the Department of Labour and Workforce Development with the processing of the backlog of work permit applications.

Through our stakeholders’ meeting and other formal and informal meetings, the Government has listened to the cries of the employers, the employees, particularly work permit holders, along with the staff at the Department of Labour and Workforce Development and listeners may recall the meeting with stakeholders on the 10^th of February.

The Department of Labour and Workforce Development and the British Virgin Islands Chamber of Commerce and Hotel Association are partnering to source employers for persons who have completed the Employability Skills Training Programme.

Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration, Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley said that efforts are in full effect to bring a prompt solution to the existing backlog at the Department of Labour and Workforce Development.

The Department of Labour and Workforce Development is informing the public that the Online Work Permit System is currently offline until further notice. Online processing of work permits is on hold. 

The public is notified that the Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration, Honourable Vincent Wheatley, will be holding office hours on Jost Van Dyke on Wednesday, February 2 at the Albert Chinnery Building from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Acting Labour Commissioner, Mrs. Michelle Mc Lean has said that the recently launched Online Work Permit System will only be accepting new work permit applications, effective immediately.
