Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton has stated that the National Health Insurance, through pooled contributions, is not only more cost effective and affordable for the wider population, but will have significant long-term social and economic benefits for the Virgin Islands.
The Ministry of Health and Social Development is notifying the public that a chronic disease self-management training workshop will be held October 6 to 9 at the H Lavity Stoutt Community College, Marine Centre building from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.
Parents and caregivers of children with asthma are encouraged to collect a copy of the educational material referred to as “Asthma Education 101” being offered by the Ministry of Health and Social Development.
A training workshop will be held in October for individuals who are interested in leading workshops on chronic disease self-management in the community.

Teachers ofPhysical Education and Grades 2 and 3 met at a two day workshop to strategise and find effective ways to implement the ‘healthy lifestyle school intervention programme’ in schools across the Territory.
A workshop to build on the general principles of procurement, and inventory control in the medicine supply chain management in the Virgin Islands will be heldnext week.
Parents and caregivers of children with asthma can now access educational materials referred to as “Asthma Education 101” being offered by the Ministry of Health and Social Development to assist in the management of asthma.
The “Test and Treat” mechanism which ensures better outcomes for the immune system in the prevention of HIV transmission as well as its progression to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), has been initiated in the Virgin Islands.
