SECURITY

The RRL finances a new Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system that can withstand the impact of future natural hazards. The CCTV cameras will be installed in various public places that have been identified as areas of concern.

The community will benefit from an enhanced public safety system that will reduce the fear of crime, the upsurge in criminal activities, entry of wanted criminals into the territory, traffic violations and burglaries. Most importantly, it will deter the commission of crimes in general. The CCTV system will also aid in the investigation to bring perpetrators to justice if a crime is committed.

Installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Surveillance System

In September 2017, the British Virgin Islands (BVI) suffered extensive damage and widespread devastation from the passage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The CCTV network that was in place before the hurricanes was virtually wiped out. CCTV cameras and associated infrastructure were either destroyed or lost. The RRL will finance better CCTV infrastructure and installations that meet internationally accepted standards and that can withstand the impact of future natural hazards.
