Role Summary 

The successful applicant will provide tactical and strategic analytical support to the RVIPF in accordance with the strategic aims and principles of the organisation and to develop and assist in the management of the analytical capability of the RVIPF.  

Main Responsibilities

  1. Ensure the development of the Force’s skills and provide a sustainable intelligence capability by establishing sound policies and operating procedures for the analytical capability for the Intelligence Unit and Force.
  2. Support the implementation of an embedded intelligence culture within the organisation using the principles of the UK based National Intelligence Model or other developed approach.
  3. Attend court and provide evidence in accordance with the relevant legislation.
  4. Assist with the preparation of the territory’s Threat Assessment on behalf of the Commissioner of Police and make recommendations to address issues raised.
  5. Support Divisional and Operational Commanders in local tasking and co-ordination of resources.
  6. Collect, collate, evaluate and analyse information from a wide variety of internal and external sources relating to committed crime, criminal intelligence policing activities and law enforcement matters, in order to produce high quality analytical services.
  7. Establish possible links between suspected offenders and committed crimes, illustrating evidential connections within criminal investigations, providing intelligence briefings, presentations and recommendations in order to assist with the planning of Force operations.
  8. Analyse relationships between different entities to establish hierarchy and structure to identify intervention points, information gaps and further information requirements to facilitate the disruption of criminal or other related activities.
  9. Provide analytical support to investigations as directed by the Senior Investigating Officer, including financial analytical support.
  10. Liaise with the Force Statistician and Performance Manager in analysing crime/incident trends, hotspots, offender profiles, etc., as part of the intelligence capability of the organisation and information to National Security Council and the community.
  11. Assist other law enforcement agencies in the BVI and region as part of the analytical and intelligence sharing requirements of the Force.
  12. Assist with the researching, analysing and preparing of reports and provide advice.
  13. Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor or senior officer in order to contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Social Science, Business Administration or related field
  • Qualified Analyst
  • Four (4) years working experience in a related area
  • Sound knowledge of Government structure, policies and procedures
  • Sound knowledge of criminal law and law of evidence and procedure
  • Sound knowledge of the use of standard office equipment and computer applications
  • Sound knowledge of quantitative research methods and data analysis
  • Sound analytical and research skills
  • Sound knowledge of general office procedures
  • Sound time management and organisational skills
  • Sound interpersonal skills and ability to be a team player
  • Sound oral and written communication skills
