Role Summary

The successful applicant will carry out and oversee the performance of official duties on the sister islands in an efficient and competent manner to ensure Departmental objectives.

Main Responsibilities

1. Coordinate designated Government activities on the island to ensure Departmental objectives are met. This includes submitting bi-monthly reports on all activities of the office to the Sister Islands Coordinator, as well as assisting the Trade Department with administration of the Department, to ensure necessary actions are carried out in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Serve as a focal point for all official enquiries on the island in order to facilitate effective communication and flow of information.
3. Manage the Government Administration Building facilities and grounds to ensure optimal use of resources and presentable premises at all times.
4. Perform duties related to timely and adequate assistance provided in the Zone/Community prior to, during and after a disaster situation, including:
     a) Develop an Organisational Disaster Contingency Plan and participate in the overall planning of Disaster Preparedness Operations in the Zone/Community
     b) Coordinate activities and resources for assistance, as well as respond to requests for, hold and distribute emergency supplies within the Zone/Community
     c) Provide bi-annual reports to the National Disaster Management Council (NDMC) and the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), as well as act as liaison between DDM and the           Zone/Community
    d) Oversee the emergency communications capacity of the Zone/Community during an emergency or disaster event
    e) Oversee the Shelter Management activities within the Zone/Community
5. Coordinate the activities of the Passport Office and supervise the management of designated public facilities located on the island to ensure they are well-functioning and resources are used efficiently.
6. Perform any other related duties as required by Supervisor or any other senior officer in order to contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Management or a related field
One (1) working experience
Resident on island
Valid BVI driver’s license
Sound knowledge of Government structure, policies and procedures
Extensive knowledge of the geographical area of the island and community leaders
Sound knowledge of the use of standard office equipment and relevant computer applications
Sound oral and written communication skills
Sound interpersonal and organisational skills
Sound supervisory skills
