Role Summary
The successful applicant will assist with structuring rehabilitation activities by implementing individual and group treatment programmes and job placements for prisoners ensuring correct policies and procedures are being followed at all times.
Main Responsibilities
- Implements individual and group treatment programmes ensuring that prisoners comply with rules, policies and procedures at all times.
- Ensures that each prisoner reports to his/her work assignment in accordance with established procedures in order to maintain security.
- Ensures that all revenues generated by the programmes are collected and disbursed in accordance with the Government’s Financial Regulations.
- Researches, analyses and prepares reports.
- Maintains records relevant to the department and also keeps filing up-to-date so that complete records are available for reference.
- Drafts and types correspondence and prof-read various documents ensuring accuracy.
- Liaises with the Head of Inmate Activities to ensure that adequate supplies are available for each programme as and when required.
- Liaises with other government agencies, community and regional agencies, to place rehabilitated prisoners into jobs.
- Attends meetings, workshops and training sessions as instructed to ensure awareness of any change in policies or procedures which may be relevant to your role.
- Performs any other related duties as required by Supervisor or any other senior officer in order to contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the Department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Social Work or a related field
- Three (3) years working experience
- Sound knowledge of the relevant Prison laws and regulations
- Excellent knowledge of Programme Development and Rehabilitative Services (individual and group)
- Good knowledge of Government structure, policies and procedures
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good knowledge of the use of standard office equipment and computer applications
- Good analytical and decision-making skills
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
