The Department of Immigration, with the assistance of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force apprehended 19 illegal migrants in Cox Heath, Tortola on Friday, April 19.

The illegal migrants, including ten Romanians, seven Haitians, one Ecuadorian, and one Honduran nationals, two of which are minors, were detained by the authorities following a tip from the public. They were processed by the Department of Immigration and are currently detained and awaiting repatriation where possible.

Acting Chief Immigration Officer Mrs. Nadia Demming-Hodge is grateful to the public for contacting the department which allowed for the apprehension of the migrants.  Mrs. Demming-Hodge is encouraging residents to continue to be vigilant and contact the Department of Immigration with information related to illegal migration in the Territory at telephone numbers 468-4705, 468-4717, 468-4754 or the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Hotline at 311.
