The Government of the Virgin Islands is seeking qualified persons to serve as members of the Physical Planning Authority.

The Physical Planning Authority was established under the Physical Planning Act, 2004 to advance the purpose of facilitating progressive, orderly planning and regulation of the land while ensuring the protection of the environment.

Prospective candidates are asked to note that in contributing to the governance and policy direction of the Physical Planning Authority, they must bring special talent, skill, and knowledge such as experience, understanding of basic Authority procedures, business, and an enthusiasm for the work of the organisation, willingness to learn Authority skills, technical skills, and the ability to listen.

Applicants must reside in the Virgin Islands and meet all the conditions of eligibility. Applicants should also have the professional competencies and a balance of skills that match the mandate and responsibilities of the Physical Planning Authority.

Authority members must possess the requisite knowledge, experience and/or training in the physical planning sectors, including land development matters; environmental, coastal, and marine matters; agriculture; commerce and industry; economic and financial matters; Crown lands; Housing; infrastructure and utilities; and other areas relevant to physical planning.

A Bachelor’s degree and seven to ten years’ experience in planning, architecture, building designs, building engineering; and/or eight years’ minimum experience as a professional in an area of the aforementioned physical planning sectors is required along with a demonstrable understanding of physical and land development.
