As the exclusive Caribbean Destination Sponsor for the final stop of SailGP’s four-race American circuit, the BVI once again positioned itself as the premier luxury sailing destination in the Caribbean.

Following its impactful presence at the SailGP event in San Francisco this past March, the BVITBFF leveraged this high-energy, world-class sailing competition to showcase the British Virgin Islands’ unparalleled sailing experiences to a global audience. The event attracted over 10,000 ticketed attendees, providing an exceptional platform to highlight the BVI’s stunning waters, vibrant culture, and luxury tourism offerings.

The team from the BVITBFC in attendance at the event included Delma Maduro, Chair, BVITBFC; Clive McCoy, Director of Tourism, Perla George, Business Development Director, North America; Shonda Maduro, Business Development Manager, Northeast Region, North America; and Cassandra Smith, Administrative Manager, North America.

The Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix featured thrilling high-speed racing with the cutting-edge F50 catamarans, captivating fans and sailing enthusiasts alike. The BVI’s sponsorship underscored its commitment to promoting sustainable, high-profile sporting events that align with the territory’s brand as a top-tier sailing destination.

“We are delighted to have partnered with SailGP once again to bring the excitement of world-class sailing to New York and to spotlight the British Virgin Islands as the Caribbean’s ultimate sailing haven,” said Clive McCoy, British Virgin Islands Director of Tourism. “Events like these allow us to connect with a passionate global audience and invite them to experience the luxury, adventure, and natural beauty that define the BVI.”
