The Ministry of Health and Social Development confirms that the ten (10) additional samples tested negative for COVID-19.

 

Deputy Premier and Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Carvin Malone stated during his last update on April 24, that the additional samples were transported to CARPHA for confirmatory results. Today, 5 new samples await confirmatory testing by CARPHA.

 

The BVI’s epidemiological summary as of April 25 is as follows:

   114 total tested

   103 tested negative

   6 tested positive

   3 recoveries

•  2 active cases

   1 death

   1 hospitalised

   5 new pending results

   199 quarantined

 

As of April 25, the Caribbean Region has confirmed 10,402 cases and globally, 2,893,729 has been confirmed. The Ministry of Health and Social Development’s epidemiological unit continues an aggressive contact tracing strategy in accordance with World Health Organization technical guidance.

Persons who have recently travelled or who may have come in contact with a possible case of COVID-19 and show any symptoms such as a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, headache or recent loss of taste or smell should stay at home and seek medical advice early by contacting the medical hotline at 852-7650.
