Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton joined other healthcare industry leaders at the 14th Annual World Health Care Congress in Washington D.C., in hopes of forming meaningful partnerships in the health care industry.

Minister Skelton said the opportunity allowed for the BVI to lend to discussions with other decision makers on the ever changing health care market, with the intent of improving health care services and delivery.

Critical challenges and opportunities were addressed at the conference including the impact of the Affordable Care Act; the implementation on health care businesses; payer and provider consolidation; and new approaches to value-based payment, to name a few.

The conference began on April 30 and ended on May 3, and was held under the theme: ‘Connecting and Preparing Leaders for Health Care's Transformation’. Minister Skelton was accompanied by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Social Development, Mrs. Petrona Davies.

The mission of the Ministry of Health and Social Development is to provide a caring and integrated system of health and social services that facilitates human development and improves the quality of life in the Virgin Islands.
