Junior Minister for Tourism, Honourable Sharie de Castro will lead the Virgin Islands’ response to the Territory’s 2022 CARIFTA Team’s performance at a ceremony today.

The Junior Minister for Tourism will officially welcome the team home at a BVILove Welcome Event on behalf of the Government and people of the Virgin Islands.

The event will be held at the Sir Olva George’s Plaza at 6:00 p.m. today to welcome the delegation who will arrive by sea. Today’s event is intended to ensure the athletes receive a heroes’ welcome while a formal ceremony with presentations is slated to be held at a later date to be announced.

Honourable de Castro will officially announce the dates and times of the official celebration ceremony, where all athletes who won medals will reunite.

A delegation of 32 athletes represented the BVI at the 49th CARIFTA Games held in Jamaica from April 16 to 18. This was the largest delegation in BVI history, since the Territory’s first appearance to the games in 1976.

Residents are invited to bring BVI Flags and their BVI Pride to welcome the athletes.
