Fifty local contractors and suppliers are now versed on the preparation of bids for projects funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

Financial Secretary, Mr. Glenroy A. Forbes said the workshop was an excellent opportunity for contractors and suppliers to become familiar with the requirements to begin working to rebuild the Territory.

Mr. Forbes said, “This workshop has been designed for you to improve your capacity to effectively respond to bidding opportunities available under the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Loan Project.

Mr. Forbes spoke about the collaborative relationship between the Government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the execution of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Loan project and other related initiatives.

He said, “I am very pleased for the support that UNDP has been providing to the Ministry of Finance through the Projects Unit. One of my stipulations as we were negotiating the contract with UNDP is that they provide every opportunity to build capacity both in the Public Service and BVI communities as a whole.”

The training sessions were focused on the general procurement principles, CDB tender documents, bid qualification requirements, joint venture arrangements, and common errors observed in bidding among other topics.

The Government of the Virgin Islands remains committed to building the Territory stronger, smarter, greener, better and more resilient.
