Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Mark Vanterpool, welcomed the Disney Wonder on its inaugural call to the Territory on Saturday, January 9 with a plaque presentation.

Honourable Vanterpool said “We are doing everything possible, as you come in to enjoy the amenities in the Virgin Islands, we are improving many of them. You can see our new Pier Park that we have built in the front of you here to give you a better sense of arrival.”

The Minister also told the Captain and his crew that the Park will give them a taste of the culture and history of the Virgin Islands as they are being welcomed into the Territory.

Captain Fabian Dib of the Disney Wonder also presented a special gift to officials during the ceremony. He said it was absolutely fantastic to sail into the port and turn around and get into the dock.

He added, “All this would not have been possible without the super support from the Port Authority, the Government of the Virgin Islands along with the businesses in the area. It is our pleasure to be here.”

The Disney Wonder is 294 meters in length, 83,000 Gross tonnages and has a capacity of 2700 passengers.
