The Office of Gender Affairs will be highlighting the importance of job inclusiveness in keeping with this year’s International Women’s Day theme ‘I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women's Right’.
Gender Affairs Coordinator, Ms. Tara Sue Morgan said International Women’s Day 2020 focuses on inspiring the younger generation to create gender equality and activities will include having female professionals who work in male dominated fields to inspire the younger generation.
Ms. Morgan said, “We are planning to visit the schools with some female professionals that are making great strides in their professional arena regardless of their gender.”
The coordinator said the International Women’s Day activities will also allow for people to come together no matter their gender, age, ethnicity, race, religion and country to create the equality they deserve.
International Women’s Day is observed annually worldwide on March 8 to recognise the contributions of women in all their diversities.
The Office of Gender Affairs is charged with developing and implementing policies and programmes that promote gender equity and equality in the British Virgin Islands.
