Release Date:
Wednesday, 13 April 2016 - 5:15pm

The Labour Department housed in the Ashley Ritter Building has temporarily relocated to Conference Room number two in the Central Administration Complex, until further notice, following flooding and damage to the offices and equipment.

Officials from the departments and relevant authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage.

Labour Commissioner, Mrs. Janice Rymer said that although the department closed its doors on April 13, work will continue on Thursday, April 14, in the temporary space.

Mrs. Rhymer said, “Our original location in the Ashley Ritter Building is expeditiously being cleaned and cleared for work, and we are expected to resume all Labour functions very soon. However immediately we will only be processing Temporary and Emergency Work Permits.”

She added, “We also want to encourage persons to call the same numbers as before, 468-4708, as well as our recent emergency number, 468-9791, so that we can keep communicating as we evaluate our situation.”

The department is also advising persons that all recent appointments and orientation sessions will have to be rescheduled and persons will be advised on when full operations will resume. The Virgin Gorda office remains fully operation for all services. The department apologises for any inconvenience caused.
