Deputy Chief Agricultural Officer, Arona Fahie-Forbes said, “The seminar is for farmers, vendors and persons who cook and handle poultry, which includes; chicken, duck, turkey and any game bird. All interested persons are encouraged to register and participate.”

Mrs. Fahie-Forbes also said the department strives to inform the public on best practices whenever possible, and seeks to prevent the transfer and spread of animal diseases through awareness and education.

Seminar coordinator and Veterinarian with the Department of Agriculture, Dr. Latisha Martin said that the poultry seminar is necessary to bring persons of the industry up to date on the latest procedures, as well as to give those persons who may not have had any formal training in this area, an opportunity to learn “what practices they should or should not maintain”.

She said, “This seminar is especially catered to the many people who handle chicken and other birds in our Territory. Our department regularly updates the public through various seminars and workshops, and this is just another training session to keep the public apprised. We hope to see many persons register as it affects several industries and people within them.”
