The Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA), a statutory body dedicated to driving sustainable development and positive impact in project implementation, fundraising and capacity development, proudly celebrates its sixth anniversary.

The Government of the Virgin Islands created the RDA with the passage of the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency Act (No. 1 of 2018).  The Act was passed by the House of Assembly, and gazetted on 16^th April, 2018.

 Today, on its sixth anniversary, the RDA will proudly handover its 43^rd project activity to the Government of the Virgin Islands: The Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Marine Base.

Established with a vision to help lead the Territory’s recovery following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the RDA has remained steadfast in its commitment to excellence, through its diverse portfolio of projects and initiatives.

From Government Administration Buildings on the Sister Islands to the re-engineered Fish Bay and Ballast Bay roads; from the commissioning of three reservoir projects to the restoration of the Anthonie Jeffrey Caines Sports Arena; from the completion of the JVD Primary and the new Elmore Stoutt High School to capacity development of 25 interns and 16 procurement workshops; the RDA has consistently delivered projects and services that redefine possibilities.

With unwavering dedication and a relentless pursuit, we look forward to shaping the future and continuing to make a meaningful difference in the Virgin Islands."

Since the RDA’s formation in April 2018, the Agency has continued to be a key development partner of the Government of the Virgin Islands, working to deliver its three-pronged mandate of project implementation, fundraising and capacity building. 

Infrastructure investments have been made across five distinct sectors and 13 subsectors, guided by the Recovery to Development Plan (RDP).  At the end of 2023, the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (Amendment and Validation) Act, 2023, extended the life of the RDA to 31st December 2026. Over the next few years of a renewed mandate, the RDA looks forward to a continued working partnership with Central Government towards the accomplishment of important development outcomes for the people of the Territory.  This will build on the agency’s vision for a Stronger, Smarter, Greener and Better Virgin Islands.
