Press Release
The Safe Haven Transitional Centre recently engaged in a community clean up as part of Mental Health Awareness Month.
Director of the Safe Haven Transitional Centre Mrs. Nellville George Bronstorph said residents and staff carried out a community clean-up in the Nanny Cay area, focusing on the importance of a clean and healthy environment as part of a holistic approach to mental wellness.
Mrs. George Bronstorph said, “The initiative was not only a way to beautify the surroundings but also served as a powerful reminder of the connection between mental health and the spaces we occupy.”
The director said this outreach was more than just an act of service adding that it was a powerful reminder that despite the challenges some residents face, including mental health diagnoses, they remain valuable, capable, and compassionate individuals.
Mrs. George Bronstorph said, “Watching them participate with pride and purpose was incredibly moving. They are whole individuals with so much to offer, and they deserve to be seen, celebrated, and given every opportunity to shine.”
The director stated that the month is a time to reflect, recognise, and raise voices in support of those navigating mental health challenges. She added, “We thank each resident for his or her contribution and continue to stand in solidarity with all who are on their mental health wellness journey. I take this opportunity to recognise the amazing team at the centre who participated in this Community Service initiative.”
The centre’s leadership is encouraging the wider community to remember that fostering mental wellness goes hand in hand with creating supportive, clean, and connected environments.
The Safe Haven Transitional Centre has embraced this year’s theme of “Community” and is encouraging the community to continue to break the stigma, build connections, and champion the importance of mental wellness—not just in this month but every day.
The Ministry of Health and Social Development through the Safe Haven Transitional Centre remains committed to providing support, compassion, and opportunities for growth to individuals on their journey toward mental wellness.
