Business owners are being reminded that a Work Permit Waiver for skilled workers cannot be extended or re-issued.

These work permit waivers which were granted to allow for the expedited entry of skilled workers into the Territory to assist in the recovery process, without the hassle of the usual work permit process is a one-time offer and should be utilized within the granted three month period by each employee.

If an employer wishes to retain the employees beyond three months, the regular work permit application form must be completed and submitted with applicable documentation and fees to the Department of Labour within the 3 month period.

Employers are being encouraged to begin the application process of a regular work permit within the second month and definitely prior to the expiration of the Work Permit Waiver to avoid breach of immigration laws.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour and the Immigration Department continue to do their part to assist with the recovery process and is seeking the cooperation of employers to ensure a smooth execution of this process.
