STATEMENT BY MINISTER FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND MEMBER FOR THE NINTH DISTRICT, HONOURABLE VINCENT O. WHEATLEY                                   ON THE STATUS OF THE AMBULANCE SERVICE ON VIRGIN GORDA

FRIDAY, 30TH MAY, 2025

The Ministry of Health and Social Development acknowledges the recent public concern surrounding the operational status of the ambulance on Virgin Gorda. I wish to reassure residents that the ambulance is fully operational, currently in service, and prepared to respond promptly to any medical emergencies on the island.

There was a brief period when the ambulance underwent routine servicing. During that time, contingency measures were implemented to ensure uninterrupted emergency response capabilities. We extend our sincere thanks to the public for their patience and understanding.

The safety and well-being of all residents remain our highest priority. We are committed to ensuring that Virgin Gorda, and all our Sister Islands, continue to receive the emergency medical services they rightfully deserve.

We encourage residents to contact the Nurse Iris O’Neal Medical Centre or the BVI Health Services Authority with any questions or concern related to medical services.

Thank you.
