BVI Airport Development

The Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport was temporarily closed on Tuesday February 19 due to the loss of the main power supply and the malfunctioning of its back-up generators.

Acting Managing Director of the BVI Airports Authority Ltd. Mr. Coy Levons (BVIAA) informed the travelling public that  in the absence of the main power supply contact was made to the BVI Electricity Corporation for its early restoration while works was being carried out to restore the back-up generators.

The airport was officially closed at approximately 12 noon.

Mr. Levons said  airline operators and pilots were informed of the airport’s closure via NOTAM (notice to airmen).

The power supply was at 1:15pm restored and the airport was reopened for business.

Mr. Levons thanks the travelling public for its patience as the authority seeks to ensure that safety is maintained at all times,
