Virgin Gorda resident Mr. Sydney Wheatley has received the keys to his brand new home just in time for the holiday season.

This latest handover is part of the Ministry of Health and Social Development’s Housing Recovery Assistance Programme. Mr. Wheatley is one of three sister island residents who have received their new home in the past three months under the programme.

Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley stated that the handover on Virgin Gorda highlights the Ministry’s dedicated work in ensuring residents on the Sister Islands get the help they need.

Honourable Wheatley said, “I must thank the contractor, my team at the Ministry. For us, this is another project that has been well-executed in a timely fashion.  We've been doing these social homes all over the Territory and we intend to continue doing them. So, I am pleased we can handover yet another house for 2023.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Sydney Wheatley said he was grateful for the home and the assistance provided to him by the Ministry of Health and Social Development.

In addition, the contractors selected to build the house, K&C Construction, noted that their firm was grateful for the opportunity to construct the house and give the beneficiary a new place to rest just in time for the festive season.

Since the inception of the Housing Recovery Assistance programme after the 2017 hurricanes, more than 25 homes have been built and over 200 repaired.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development is committed to improving the health and well-being of the people of the Virgin Islands.
