Junior Minister for Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs, Honourable Marlon A. Penn is pictured with President of the BVI Football Association (BVIFA), Mr. Andy Bickerton, along with officials of the BVI Football Association at a joint press conference held on October 11 to provide an update on the progress of the Greenland Stadium. During the conference Honourable Penn advised that the Government has already met its obligations regarding the preparation of the grounds for building the facility. He also reiterated Government’s commitment to the project as an important part of developing the Territory’s sports tourism product and for youth development. The stadium will include a six lane 400 meter track field, regulation-sized football field, netball and volleyball court and other related amenities. It is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2017, with funding provided to the BVI Football Association by Football’s World governing body, FIFA. (Photo Credit: Ronnielle Fraser /GIS)
