The Town and Country Planning Department will be observing World Town Planning and Geographic Information Systems Day on Wednesday, November 18 under the theme, “Discovering the World Through GIS and Planning”.
Small craft and sea bathers warning is in place as the Territory is experiencing rain events as a result of the interaction of a tropical wave with a mid to upper level low. These conditions are expected to further intensify into tonight and the weekend, especially on Saturday. The heavy rainfall could trigger the issuance of flash flood watches or warning.
The Environmental Health Division will be visiting the island of Anegada on November 09, 11 and 13 to conduct food premises inspection and food handler sessions in preparation for Lobster Fest 2015.

Representatives of Business Service Organisations (BSOs) in the British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, St. Barths, St. Maarten, St. Eustatius and Saba are preparing to attend a two-day Train-the-Trainer Proposal Writing Workshop being hosted in the Territory from November 9 to 10.

A book embracing Virgin Islands’ Christmas traditions and customs of the 1950s and before, as experienced in the family of a young girl by the name of Funintun, will be launched on November 9.
Over one thousand bags of Sargassum seaweed were collected from priority areas of the Territory’s shoreline during last month’s clean-up by members of the community.
The Government of the Virgin Islands is working on the development of a comprehensive policy and implementation strategy to address the current influx and potential future influxes of Sargassum.
The Social Development Department will be hosting a foster care and adoptive training for prospective foster and adoptive parents and existing foster parents from November 9 to13 at the Red Cross Conference Room from 8:30 a.m. to noon daily.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. the Honourable Kedrick D. Pickering has announced that there was a recommendation for an increase in the Territory’s minimum wage.
