Compensation Claims are Government’s liability to persons for damages to vehicles, equipment, boats, and property land encroachment etc.
Step 1: The Ministries and Departments submit a Compensation Report to the Ministry of Finance.
Step 2: The report is forwarded to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGs) for legal advice.
Step 3: Upon the AGs decision, the payee will be informed and the Ministry will authorize payment only if government is liable.
Step 4: Treasury is authorized to process a cheque.
Step 5: Before the cheque is released, the Payee must sign a deed of release at the Attorney General’s Chambers.
Step 6: Upon collection of the cheque at the Ministry of Finance, the payee must sign an acknowledgment of receipt of payment.
