Food establishment inspections are conducted to ensure that the hygienic linear flow of food and infrastructure within the establishment are acceptable.  Upon expiration of the food establishment licence, proprietors are required legally to seek registration of their food establishment.

Process

Step 1:  Proprietors submit the completed Application for Registration and Licencing of a Food Establishment Form to the Division.

Step 2:  The Division conducts an unannounced inspection of the food establishment.

Step 3:  The Environmental Health Officer prepares an inspection report and the proprietor is given a copy.  The findings are discussed with the proprietor.

Step 4:  If the proprietor passes the inspection, they must visit the Division to sign for and collect their food establishment licence.  If there has been a lack of compliance, the proprietor will have to take further action to obtain compliance before they are issued a licence.
