The purpose of a Safety Management Code is to establish a common standard for safe operation of passenger vessels employed in domestic trade.
Process
Step 1: Customer submits an Inspection Application Letter to VISR.
Step 2: Chief Marine Surveyor is informed and awaits approval for “flag-in”.
Step 3: Chief Marine Surveyor contact customers to discuss the survey procedures and schedules to carry out the survey.
Step 4: Marine Surveyor inspects the vessel, and records particulars for safety.
Step 5: If vessel did NOT PASS inspection, Chief Marine Surveyor is informed and awaits approval for “flag-in”. If vessel PASSED inspection, it is then determined if it is a commercial or private vessel.
Step 6: If it is NOT a commercial vessel, the customer is issued a “Certificate of Survey” and arrangements would then be made for the customer to pay the fees. If it IS a commercial vessel, the customer is issued a Certificate of Survey” and “Certificate of Compliance” and arrangements would then be made for the customer to pay the fees.
Step 7: After all fees are paid, customer comes to VISR, fees are received and receipts are given.
