The Government of the Virgin Islands has partnered with the UK Government for Sustainable Fisheries Management in the Virgin Islands with the launch of a new £317,000 project.

Gardeners across the Territory participating in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture’s Backyard Garden Competition are being provided with more tips to assist with the production of successful crops.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie has said that assistance is available for local farmers and fisherfolk affected by COVID-19.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie has announced that two million dollars has been secured from the Social Security Board to assist farmers and fisher folk during his statement on Social Protection and Economic Stimulation in COVID-19 on Thursday, May 28.

The public is notified that scuba diving and spearfishing for marine animals such as turtles, whelks, conchs, lobsters or any other marine species and products is prohibited.

The public can now access fresh local seafood from fisher folk throughout the Territory. 

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries has announced that local fishers are now offering fresh seafood for delivery.

The public is informed that all licenced commercial fishers who have been approved by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries are permitted to fish and do deliveries during the extended curfew.
