Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities Honourable Kye M. Rymer and Permanent Secretary Mr. Ronald Smith-Berkeley have received the keys for the completed ground floor of the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters in Road Town.

Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Zebalon McLean said the dangers of backyard and outdoor burning were the main focus of activities to observe this year’s Fire Safety Awareness Week.

“Smoke kills – Be fire safe and fire smart”, is the theme for Fire Safety Awareness Week 2020.

The fire Station in the East End/Long Look community is now functional.

The Territory established its first Satellite Emergency Operations Centre(EOC) at the East End/Long Look(EE/LL) Fire Station following a partnership between the Department of Disaster Management(DDM) and the Caribbean Development Bank(CDB). 

Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Zebalon McLean is commending his officers for their quick response in putting out a fire at an apartment building at Sugar Mill Road on Monday, June 1.
