The public is notified that Marine first responders from across the Virgin Islands will collaborate on a rescue simulation exercise in Road Harbour on Thursday, June 5.

The scenario is being coordinated by the Department of Disaster Management as part of its annual training and exercise calendar.

The Marine Safety Investigation and Reporting Authority (MSIRA), in the Premier’s Office, confirms that a single boating accident occurred on Sunday, 25th May, 2025, in Leverick Bay Marina, Virgin Gorda.  The single-vessel incident happened when a centre console powerboat, Anadanto, capsized, injuring all six individuals onboard the vessel.

The Premier’s Office hosted a critical Maritime Safety Meeting, bringing key stakeholders together to discuss the state of maritime safety in the Virgin Islands.

Premier, and Minister of Finance, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Honourable Dr. Natalio Wheatley has stated that there is a need for the active monitoring the Territory’s environment, its water quality and coral reefs.

The newly appointed Board of Directors of the Virgin Islands Shipping and Maritime Authority has concluded its inaugural orientation session and is now a fully operational statutory board.

Minister for Communications and Works Honourable Kye Rymer has stated that the completed new West End Ferry Terminal will be designed to process up to 200 passengers per hour, or 200,000 passengers per year.

Madam Speaker, early last month, I gave an update on the progress of development of the West End Ferry Terminal, and I stand here today to present a further update on the additional progress made to date on this important development for our Territory. 

Climate response and energy savings measures in a functional layout were on the agenda during stakeholder discussions on the new West End Ferry Terminal (WEFT) held on February 15 and 16.
