The Ministry of Health and Social Development and BVI Health Services Authority will be conducting Community COVID-19 Testing for residents and visitors of the island of Jost Van Dyke today, July 22 starting at 10:00 a.m.

Mr Speaker, like many our countries in the world the outbreak of the COVID-19 Coronavirus, has severely impacted the economy of the British Virgin Islands. 

The Cabinet Office is notifying the public that Statutory Instrument No.84 Public Health (COVID-19 Control and Suppression Measures- Jost Van Dyke) Order, 2020 are now available for public information on the Virgin Islands Official Gazette website at https://eservices.gov.vg/gazette/.  The Instrument was published in an extraordinary issue of the Gazette No. 92 dated 21^st July, 2020.

It gives me great pleasure on behalf of Premier Honourable Andrew A. Fahie to bring remarks on this very important occasion as we continue as a Government to move the Territory forward in our economic response to various sectors of the economy of the Virgin Islands.

You would have seen the Ministry of Health’s press release this morning on the increased COVID-19 prevention measures that have been put in place for Jost Van Dyke.

Residents of the BVI who think they may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus or are feeling unwell are asked to call the Medical Hotline at 852-7650 to speak to a professional for further assistance. 

In an effort to guard, prevent, and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all residents and visitors on Jost Van Dyke are to remain at home under quarantine for a period of seven (7) days starting today.

An airline passenger travelled from the British Virgin Islands on July 15 tested positive for COVID-19 on arrival to St. Vincent and the Grenadines on July 18.
