The Government of the Virgin Islands congratulates Ambassador Dr. June Soomer on receiving the highest honours that can be accorded a foreign diplomat by the Republic of Nicaragua.
On behalf of the Government and people of the Virgin Islands, I would like to congratulate the new Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, The Honourable Philip J. Pierre, on his resounding election victory and appointment as Prime Minister. The General Election was yet another triumph of democracy in the Caribbean.
On 9 and 10 July, G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors endorsed the key components set out in the “Statement on a two-pillar solution to address the tax challenges arising from the digitalisation of the economy” released by the OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) on July 1.
It is with great concern and sadness that I learned of the death of President of the Republic of Haiti Mr. Jovenel Moise who was attacked by assassins and died today. This is a day of profound sadness for the people of Haiti and the Caribbean more widely.

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) has received strong backing by the United Nations (UN) Special Committee on Decolonization (C-24) regarding the self-governance of the Territory and its right to self-determination at the recently concluded session of the C-24 at UN Headquarters from 14th – 25th June 2021.
Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew A. Fahie led a delegation from the BVI into a successful negotiation with the United States Virgin Islands on increasing the number of persons travelling by ferries to and from both Territories.

A delegation of officials from the Government of the Virgin Islands was present at the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport today, March 7 to receive 2000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines for immediate distribution from the Government of Dominica.
