Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Zebalon McLean and the Manager for the Department of Waste Management, Mr. Greg Massicote have confirmed that there is currently no visible surface fire at the Cox Heath debris site and the smoke has decreased considerably. 

The public is reminded that according to the Litter Abatement Act, it is illegal to dump bulky waste including beds, refrigerators, and other furniture and construction materials in or near residential dumpsters.

The public is notified that the Department of Waste Management can now be contacted at telephone numbers 468-4934 or 468-4935.

Over 600 derelict vehicles have been collected by the Department of Waste Management and are now being recycled.

Chief Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Lionel Michael is appealing to residents to refrain from backyard burning because of the environmental and personal health impact on the community.

The Department of Waste Management received a significant donation from the Department for International Development (DFID) which will aid the department in more efficient debris removal.

The Department of Waste Management is seeking the cooperation of drivers of heavy equipment, especially trucks for hire to properly dispose of garbage.

Owners of businesses especially restaurants, are advised to take their waste to the incinerator for proper disposal. 

The public is advised that the Paraquita Bay Waste Debris Management station is closed until further notice.
