Students of the Eselyn Henley Richez Learning Centre and the Department of Social Development are the recipients of the gifts from the gift drive ‘Bringing Christmas to You’, organised by the British Virgin Islands (BVI) Post during the Christmas season.

Postmaster General of the BVI Post, Ms. Pascha Stoutt at a ceremony to hand over the gifts expressed that she was delighted to participate in such a joyful event to bring smiles to the Territory’s children and create meaningful traditions with the provision of Christmas gifts.

“We are happy to share in this momentous occasion with the children but this would not have been possible without the contributions made by the community,” Ms Stoutt said, adding that the gifts handed over to the Department of Social Development will go to the programmes it is spearheading.

The Post Master General thanked the Ministry of Finance and the staff of the BVI Post for their unwavering support in making this initiative possible.

“We ventured into the gift drive campaign with a positive outlook as our intention was to keep the spirit of generosity and compassion alive in the Virgin Islands. It was a huge success and we look forward to doing this again,” Ms. Stoutt stated.

‘Bringing Christmas to You’ was the first toy, book and educational item drive spearheaded by the BVI Post from October 21 to December 19, 2014. Persons were encouraged to donate new unwrapped toys, books, or educational items at any post office location throughout the territory.

The BVI Post, included in the Ministry of Finance’s portfolio, is responsible for postal communication and provides mail service to more than 192 countries around the world.
