Residents of Jost Van Dyke are notified that the vector control team will travel to the island on February 25 and 26 to conduct house to house inspections. These inspections are part of efforts to reduce the potential impact of the Zika virus on the Territory.  Residents are asked to conduct a general clean-up of their premises and to cooperate with the team to remedy any issues that may arise.

A 20 yard bin will be placed in Great Harbor behind the Jost Van Dyke School and a ten yard bin in Little Harbor next to the Department of Waste Management's garbage to assist with the disposal of any bulky waste including fridges, stoves, furniture, tires and containers that can provide potential breeding grounds for mosquitos.

Residents are reminded to conduct weekly surveillance activities for breeding sites and dispose of unwanted containers that can hold water. Garbage must be disposed of on a regular basis and open drains where water could settle must be cleared at all times.  Persons are also encouraged to thoroughly scrub the sides of containers to destroy mosquito eggs, keep their yard clean and clear of weeds and store containers not being used faced down.
