Over 40 BVIslanders living and studying in the United Kingdom turned up for an afternoon meet and greet hosted by Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley and the BVI London Office at BVI House in London on November 23 during his first official visit to the UK.

The Minister engaged in fruitful discussions with the audience on the BVI’s progress and recovery developments post Hurricanes Irma and Maria and provided updates on a wide array of topics from sports to medical marijuana. He also provided updates on his recent trip to Paris where he attended a series of meetings with United Nation Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) along with an overview of his London engagements with key stakeholders and various UK Governmental Departments.

Students and scholarship recipients took advantage of the opportunity to address queries with the Education Minister one-to-one and so did many of the residents who had individual queries of their own.

“I was thrilled to spend the afternoon with the BVI community in the UK and even more so to hear about the many talents, educational and business ventures that our people are engaging in overseas. I firmly believe that this is a signal of great things to come for the Territory and I have made it a priority to tap into the varied resources resident in our growing diaspora in the UK” expressed Minister Wheatley.

Following the talk, a warm BVI styled lunch and BVI style peas soup prepared by BVI chefs residing in the UK was a welcomed treat for all.
