Several Christmas events will form part of ‘Christmas Bells in the City’ in the city of Road Town this holiday season.

The Ministry of Communications and Works, through the Office of the City Manager, will be spearheading the events.

City Manager, Mrs. Janice Braithwaite-Edwards said that ‘Christmas Bells in the City’ is a calendar of events that encompasses existing traditional and annual events that happen in December along with new Christmas events by the ministry.

Mrs. Braithwaite-Edwards said, “It is just another opportunity for us to showcase what events can happen outdoors during the Christmas holidays in the city of Road Town. We are planning to have pop-up activities during the 24 days before Christmas.”

The City Manager added that the ministry is seeking to ensure that returning residents and visitors are able to enjoy the holiday season in the Territory as well as provide an opportunity for the public to come together as one.

Mrs. Braithwaite-Edwards elaborated that, “the Christmas season is a time for people, family, to get together, and the Ministry of Communications and Works felt it was important to have an initiative of this magnitude.”

She stated that vendors will also benefit as persons will be able to purchase items on display.”

The Ministry of Communications and Works is working with different organisers to ensure the existing events in Road Town are given the proper exposure and that where there are no events, something is happening.

The first event planned by the Ministry of Communications and Works will take place on Sunday, December 4 at the Queen Elizabeth II Park from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. The event, ‘Family Christmas Sundays’ is geared towards families and is expected to be fun and enjoyable for all ages.

Family Christmas Sundays will be held on December 4, 11 and 18. Other events planned by the ministry include, ‘Holiday Poetry’, on Friday, December 9 in the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park at 7:00 p.m. and the ‘Grand Christmas Event’ on Friday, December 23 at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park from 4:00 p.m.
