The 3rd Annual Parenting Workshop hosted by the Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School on Thursday, October 31 has been hailed a success.

Principal Mrs. Valerie Charles-Welsh said the workshop was a great success and that she was pleased to see parents participating in the different activities.

Parents were expected to come prepared to learn as their pre-primary child and were also asked to bring along their child’s school bag and to sit in their seat.

Principal Charles-Welsh said, “One of the key purposes of the workshop is to introduce parents to what is happening in the classroom. We have been asking them to help their children at home but we are very much aware of the fact that some parents don’t know exactly what to do and this workshop was to give them insight.”

She added, “There was nothing that the teacher had done in the classroom that a parent cannot do at home.”

Parents expressed that the workshop was extremely interactive and that they will use some of the techniques at home to better aid their child’s learning.

Activities were monitored and judged by officials from the Ministry of Education and teachers were also judged on how stimulating and decorative their classrooms were.

The day was held under the theme  “A Day in the Life of an Early Childhood Student” while incorporating the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture’s 2019 school theme, “ENGAGE ENCOURAGE EMPOWER EDUCATE”.

The annual workshop is geared towards engaging and encouraging parents while empowering them to partner with the school to educate their children.
