The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports will be observing Anti-Bullying Week from Sunday 15th to Saturday, 21st October.

Co-coordinator and school counselor, Mrs. Bisa Smith stated that the week will begin with a virtual opening message video from the Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports on Tuesday, 17th October along with Dressing the Town in Odd Socks (Odd Socks Day).

From Tuesday to Friday schools will conduct a series of activities focusing on anti-bullying. The events will include:

Tuesday, October 17th

  • Minister’s Virtual Opening Message
  • Dress the Town in Odd Socks (Odd Socks Day)
  • Pep Rally – Western Zone
  • Ivan Dawson Primar School – 8:40 a.m.
  • Leonora Delville Primary School – 11:00 a.m.
  • Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre – 1:00 p.m.
  • Ebenezer Thomas Primary School – 2:30 p.m.
  • Public Speaking Competition (Primary and Secondary)
  • Venue: Elmore Stoutt High School: Lecture Room 2 at 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, October 18th

  • Pep Rally – Southern Zone
  • Enis Adams Primary School – 8:40 a.m.
  • Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School – 11:00 a.m.
  • Alexandrina Maduro Primary School – 2:30 p.m.
  • Claudia Creque Educational Centre – 7:00 a.m. – All Day

Thursday, October 19th

  • Pep Rally – Eastern Zone
  • Joyce Samuel Primary School – 8:40 a.m.
  • Francis Lettsome Primary School – 11:00 a.m.
  • Willard Wheatley Primary School – 2:30 p.m.

Anti-Bullying Week helps raise awareness of bullying amongst children and young people and helps schools to tackle bullying that is taking place. The aim of Anti-bullying Week is to heighten each student’s awareness of the effects of bullying on self and others. It’s also our goal to help students develop skills to maintain healthy friendships
